Sir Alex Ferguson is poised to make a bid for a new Brazilian sensation - the latest to be labelled the new Ronaldinho.

Gremio's 18-year-old midfielder, Douglas Costa, has attracted the attention of a number of European clubs, with Villarreal having a £8million offer turned down.

The Sun reports that United have been monitoring Costa after reports from their South American scout, Jaap Stam.

Costa’s advisor, said: 'The boy is special and loves the Premier League. He has a lot of offers to consider.'
Costa, who holds a Portuguese passport and so would not need a work permit, is due to talk to clubs at the end of this month with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Inter Milan also thought to be interested.
